From my Archives: Comandante DVD Review

ComandanteSquareImagine you are granted an audience with the Pope, resolve to berate him on such issues as abortion and homosexuality, but instead you get drunk, turn up late and tell him how much you like his hat. That’s a little like the relationship between Oliver Stone and Fidel Castro in this interview-cum-documentary, an opportunity frustratingly squandered, but one which still makes for fascinating viewing. Errol Morris would have nailed it.

DVD Extras: Stone explains — and acquits — himself well in his considered commentary and a 20-minute press conference interview (filmed at the Edinburgh festival).
