Apollo 18 (Empire On-Demand Review)

Apollo 18 (2011), Netflix

The Blair Witch Project meets Capricorn One in this found footage film, purportedly distilled from 43 hours of 16mm footage collected by the astronauts on a secret NASA mission to the moon (Apollo 17 being the last official moon landing). Director Gonzalo Lopez-Gallego’s focus on ‘authentic fakery’ robs the film some of some of its scare potential, but it’s an effective and entertaining slow-burner with an intriguing twist.

Empire rating: ★★★
